If you are thinking of getting a personal trainer be careful if you select Professional Fitness Trainers. They will have you sign a contract. Once the contract expires, if you don’t cancel the contract their way you’ll be automatically renewed.

My contract with Professional Fitness Trainers expired in December of 2008. The manager in the Peak Fitness Downtown Raleigh location informed me that it was about to expire and asked me if I wanted to renew. I emphatically told him that I could not afford to renew. I told him that when things were better for me financially I would revisit the possibility of renewal then. I was never billed in the month of December. Then today I went on my on-line bank account and realized that they had debited my account for a month of personal training. I called the Personal Fitness Trainers office at the Peak Fitness location in Downtown Raleigh. They gave me the number for the corporate office. I called the corporate office on Six Forks Road in Raleigh. They told me that I did not cancel the contract in the “right way”. They explained to me that I needed to send them a certified letter telling them I wanted to cancel or else my contract would automatically renew. I told them I wanted to cancel the contract and get my $240 back. They told me that they would not refund my money but that I could have training sessions instead.

I find this to be an unethical, dishonest way of trying to retain customers.

I’ve contacted the Better Business Bureau, Monica Laliberty with 5 On Your Side of WRAL and Attorney General Roy Coopers office.

The trainer was good, it’s just to bad he works for such a dishonest company.

Do you like to go to a place where people know you and treat you like you are valued and appreciated for your patronage? Well if you like good coffee, good food and great customer service you need to try The Third Place in the Five Points area near Down Town Raleigh located at 1811 Glenwood Avenue. The owners of the one of it’s kind coffee shop are Jill Marie and David Benson. They bought the shop in March of 2004.

Inside the coffee shop

As a customer of theirs for the last four years I’ve noticed that Dave and Jill get customer service. They know the customers by name and they know their kids names as well. When you go in to their coffee shop it feels like you are coming home. You’re greated warmly and with many of their regular customers, they know what they like and how they like it.

You’ll often find them sitting at a table with their customers talking about life and experiencing some laughs together or discussing the issues of the day.

Dave and Jill have been successful at creating an excellent social atmosphere at Third Place and I for one appreciate their commitment to excellence in great customer service.

If you haven’t been to The Third place you need to visit soon. They have a wide variety of pastries, sandwiches, salads, breakfast foods, juices, coffees, lattes and much more!

When an establishment has good food, great atmosphere, great customer service and the prices aren’t to high, it’s a great place to spend your time and money!
Third Place, I give you five stars. You guys got it goin on!

I would like to kick off my blog by telling you about one of my favorite places to eat in Downtown Raleigh. It’s called Mo’s Diner. Don’t let the word Diner fool you! It’s fine dining in every sense of the word!

For many years, Holly and Hamid “Mo” Mohajer have welcomed their guests to their restaurant across from Moore Square in a restored 1886 home located at 306 E. Hargett Street Raleigh, NC.

They offer full service for dinner Tuesday through Saturday, amid the wonderfully appointed decor of white tablecloth and doily curtains with candlelight, fresh flowers and a fireplace in every room – perfect for that romantic date or special occasion. I’ve had several of each there. I brought my daughter there for one of her birthday celebrations. She felt like a princess there.

Each room has three to five tables for an intimate dinner or private party, as well as outside dining on a front porch draped in jasmine lit with sparkly white lights.

They offer primarily American fare. Their menu may be seen on their website. The url is at the end of this blog. My favorite foods they serve are the assortment of Mixed Green Salads, Sauted Chicken Liver appetizer, The Rack of Lamb and the homemade desserts which are out of this world! My absolute favorite is the Flowerless Chocolate Torte!

The best things about Mo’s Diner are Holly and Hamid. Holly is the hostess and Hamid is the chef. They are personable people that are always willing to take the time to talk to their customers. Holly makes you feel like you are family when you dine with them. The atmosphere is wonderful, the food is simply divine and the prices are great! As for the service, well hands down it’s some of the absolute best I’ve ever had!

When I was the Guest Relations Manager of a local hotel in Downtown Raleigh I sent many many people to Mo’s Diner with confidence that they would be taken good care of. Never once did any of them come back and tell me that it was a poor recommendation. In fact people always came back to the hotel to tell me what a wonderful experience they had!

Mo’s Diner, you’ve got it goin on! I give you my 5 ***** rating. Keep up the good work! I’ll be in to see you guys soon!
