I would like to kick off my blog by telling you about one of my favorite places to eat in Downtown Raleigh. It’s called Mo’s Diner. Don’t let the word Diner fool you! It’s fine dining in every sense of the word!
For many years, Holly and Hamid “Mo” Mohajer have welcomed their guests to their restaurant across from Moore Square in a restored 1886 home located at 306 E. Hargett Street Raleigh, NC.
They offer full service for dinner Tuesday through Saturday, amid the wonderfully appointed decor of white tablecloth and doily curtains with candlelight, fresh flowers and a fireplace in every room – perfect for that romantic date or special occasion. I’ve had several of each there. I brought my daughter there for one of her birthday celebrations. She felt like a princess there.
Each room has three to five tables for an intimate dinner or private party, as well as outside dining on a front porch draped in jasmine lit with sparkly white lights.
They offer primarily American fare. Their menu may be seen on their website. The url is at the end of this blog. My favorite foods they serve are the assortment of Mixed Green Salads, Sauted Chicken Liver appetizer, The Rack of Lamb and the homemade desserts which are out of this world! My absolute favorite is the Flowerless Chocolate Torte!
The best things about Mo’s Diner are Holly and Hamid. Holly is the hostess and Hamid is the chef. They are personable people that are always willing to take the time to talk to their customers. Holly makes you feel like you are family when you dine with them. The atmosphere is wonderful, the food is simply divine and the prices are great! As for the service, well hands down it’s some of the absolute best I’ve ever had!
When I was the Guest Relations Manager of a local hotel in Downtown Raleigh I sent many many people to Mo’s Diner with confidence that they would be taken good care of. Never once did any of them come back and tell me that it was a poor recommendation. In fact people always came back to the hotel to tell me what a wonderful experience they had!
Mo’s Diner, you’ve got it goin on! I give you my 5 ***** rating. Keep up the good work! I’ll be in to see you guys soon!
